"Ornament Lane"

This week has been full of holiday joy, so we walked down a lane of ornaments to continue this trend. Some clients recommended we check out the Hoover Nature Trail off Cubbage Rd. For roughly a mile, ornaments of all shapes and sizes don sticks and branches! We parked by the disc golf course and made our way onto the trail to find the baubles. You’ll know you’ve made it by the hundreds of ornaments and the reindeer welcome sign at the entrance. Known only to locals and by word of mouth, one couple has been hanging ornaments in the trees for a few years. They begin hanging right after Thanksgiving and take them down shortly after the new year to bring some magic to the season. The number of baubles grows yearly, with over 500 more planned to be added next year!

It amazed us that just two people do all this work simply to put a smile on the locals’ faces. We saw just a few people on the trail as we pointed out our favorite decorations along the route. We really loved a small section of pink ornaments all grouped together. The benches along the trail offer a place to rest and a view of heavily decorated spots. If visiting, please heed the signage to “take only pictures and leave only footprints (or more ornaments).” If leaving ornaments, avoid glass/crystal and choose a spot you’ll remember to visit! Your addition will continue to be on the trail for years to come! We can’t wait to add a few of our own to the ever-growing collection and see how it flourishes over the next few years! A tourist attraction made just for those who know about it, this truly is a hidden gem in Columbus.
