Happy Friday, everyone! It’s Hannah. This week, I want to share one of my favorite places for tea, Asterisk’s Supper Club, as part of my birthday celebration.
One of the things I love about this local restaurant is its whimsical atmosphere. The oil lamps, mismatched China for tea, and crystal chandeliers create a nostalgic ambiance. The restaurant’s interior, with dark oak and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, along with the bartenders’ attire, transports you back in time. The owner, Megan, took inspiration from Westerville’s history as the “Dry Capital of The World,” but you’ll find no shortage of cocktails here. Yes, I’ve mentioned both tea and cocktails, so what kind of place is this? Asterisks opens daily at noon (closed on Mondays) to serve lunch and Afternoon Tea before the dinner service. Their lunch and dinner menus offer classic American cuisine with creative twists and occasionally change menu items. While I’ve only heard good things about their food, I haven’t had a full meal here despite numerous visits because I can’t get enough of their Afternoon Tea. After perusing a menu disguised as a library book, you can choose from a few tea options. I usually opt for the petite tea, which includes a full pot of tea, soup or salad, 5 tea sandwiches, a scone, and a dessert for $27. Each dish has a variety of options, with the scone and dessert usually featuring seasonal flavors. After this indulgence, I’m usually quite full. I have to mention the fantastic variety of hot and iced tea options available, with my personal favorite being the Chocolate Cherry Bomb, a black tea with a hint of chocolate and sweetness.
If you decide to visit Asterisk’s for tea or supper, there’s plenty of free parking on the street and in downtown Westerville lots. Let me know if you’ve tried it and if we should finally sit down for a full meal here!
