Atlas Tavern

You can find pizza and wings in almost every part of Columbus. Finding the best ones is the real challenge. We often go to Roosters or Buffalo Wild Wings but are still searching for something better. We’ve even driven for more than half an hour each way to try new places, and the search continues.

Our friend told us about Atlas Tavern this week and raved about the wings, so we had to check it out ourselves! (Thanks, Cam!) It is located in Polaris, next to Kitchen Social. The best parking is in the parking garage behind it unless you are lucky enough to get a spot up front or choose to go on a quieter night.

The tavern has a laid-back environment, with the bar on one side and booths/high-top tables on the other. The bar is quite eye-catching, displaying hundreds of small copper hexagons lining the wall from top to bottom. It’s one of the best bars I’ve seen in a while. The wall above our table had a unique map of Ohio, staying true to their name, Atlas!

On its website, Atlas Tavern emphasizes the time it takes to create made-from-scratch dishes and curate its beer and cocktail menu. As a former kitchen manager, I understand the value of that time. The extra love and time spent in made-from-scratch kitchens make a difference. You can taste that time spent, and it’s delicious.

We started with an appetizer, the leek dip with naan, because we were starving as usual. If you like leek, definitely order this dip. I wanted to dissect it and learn the recipe for myself. It was the first time we had tried a leek dip, which was so tasty. Soon after, our wings arrived, and they were not disappointed. We ordered traditional wings with hot garlic, which had the perfect crispiness. I prefer a saucier wing with a thicker sauce, but Josh thinks they are some of the best wings he’s had in a while. He might even call me crazy when he reads this. The chefs cooked them perfectly—crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and served steaming hot. We’ll have to visit again to make sure, but so far, we are impressed.

What’s your favorite wing spot? We’d love to know!
