When I was a child, one of my favorite activities was cruising around in a go-kart at a fun center. Even as an adult, I still find the thrill of driving something fast other than a car to be very appealing.
Recently, I went out to find a place that would fulfill this childhood memory, and I found Buckeye Raceway Electric Indoor Karting on Broad Street. When we arrived at the facility, we found a spacious room with a quarter-mile racetrack for karts, along with axe throwing, arcade games, and paintball. Since we visited on a Thursday afternoon around 2 o’clock, we had the track all to ourselves.
After going through safety checks and instructions, we were able to reach speeds of 45 mph as we raced around the track. They offer various race formats, but the standard race is 8 minutes with multiple rounds. If you do more than eight rounds, be prepared to have sore arms from gripping the steering wheel!
After each round, they provide you with printouts of your lap times and scores, as well as a graph showing your progress in speed. This made the experience much more engaging than the go-karting we did as kids. Soon, we were both focused on getting better times and not letting the other person overtake us.
We left the facility feeling exhilarated, and we spent the rest of the day discussing strategies for our next visit. During my research, I also found out that they rent out the entire space for special events. They are open every evening except for Mondays. All ages are welcome, but for junior kart riders, the minimum age requirement is eight years old and they must be at least 48″ tall.
It seems that they are currently undergoing some construction, so some things may be out of place. However, I’m excited to see what they do with the space in the future. If you have any recommendations for similar spots, please feel free to share them with me. I enjoy discovering new places based on great reviews!
