When searching for things to do in Columbus, our local science center, Cosi, always comes up as one of the top suggestions. It has been around since 1964 and is well-known throughout Ohio and the country. The Center of Science and Industry provides a hands-on environment for children and families to learn about science. There are experiments to try and watch, and plenty of different themed rooms from underwater to Sesame Street.
While we have fond memories of Cosi, we don’t have kids of our own to bring along. Fortunately, Cosi also has an event for adults called Cosi After Dark. This event is for individuals 21 and over and offers a different monthly theme. The doors open at 7 pm, and it’s a great opportunity to experience Cosi without kids.
Our friend Alex joined us for the Wizard School-themed night, for which we had to wait a couple of months. We purchased our tickets in advance to ensure we could attend, as they were sold out. The line to get in moved quickly, and we immersed ourselves in a Harry Potter-themed world. Each floor featured themed drinks, and although we wanted to try butterbeer, we opted for the shortest line and started to explore. We were able to interact with all of Cosi and enjoy a few curated events, such as a potions class and Rat Quidditch.
Even though the event had a decent turnout, it wasn’t too crowded to enjoy ourselves and the experiments. Their upcoming themes for Cosi After Dark include Scum & Villainy Cantina in August, Nightmare on Elm Street for October, and an 80’s party theme in December.
We always have a great time exploring our city. If you know of any places that we tend to overlook as Columbus natives, feel free to let us know!
