Diners are one of our favorite places to visit for a good hearty breakfast. This week we deviated from our usual haunt and took the drive out to Westerville to try Delaney’s Diner!
The diner is nestled in the corner of a small strip of stores and has plenty of parking, thanks to the huge lot dedicated to the strip of stores. The diner is one of the few we have found that has room to push tables together for parties of eight people or more! Through the large glass windows out front, you can see into an industrial-style diner with bright red booths reminiscent of the 50s.
Delaney’s has been in Westerville for many, many years now, and they have even opened up three more locations since then! Locally owned by Jeff and Lisa Miller, Delaney’s prides itself on being a “neighborhood spot.” Even our waitress commented that going to Delaney’s was like going to a good friend’s house. After a cozy visit, the guests become regulars, who become like friends. Because they want to be a neighborhood staple, they carry the everyday favorites that one may find at a diner, in addition to a few unique dishes.
The community seems to be a huge focus for the restaurant, as the walls have different Westerville-themed decorations, and they even have a community board to see what’s going on in Westerville! The support for the local area doesn’t just stop there either – on all their tables, they have a hot sauce that’s made right in Westerville! We forgot to try it even after I hyped it up… so someone let us know how it is!!
The food itself was delicious! The challah French toast always gets me, and the bacon has been that perfect amount of crisp every time. We just got standard breakfast food of over-easy eggs, potatoes, bacon, and French toast, but no complaints about how anything was cooked. What really intrigued us was those prices! Before tip, our breakfast was only fifteen dollars. On top of that, they have a special before 7:30 am, of breakfast for only $5! Gotta love a deal, so we will have to return to try that and their lunch/dinner.
Do you have a favorite diner?! Our top favorite has to be Cafe Creekside, or just good old Waffle House. What do we need to try next???
