Gamegrounds at Otherworld:
A Carnival with a Twist

Since 2019, Otherworld has transformed the abandoned Chantry Square strip mall into an ever-changing art experience. This year, they’ve upped the game—literally—with Gamegrounds, a limited-time immersive carnival (closing June 1!). This carnival is far from the average and keeps the artistry of Otherworld going.

Getting There

Gamegrounds is inside Otherworld, with check-in at the main desk. The massive parking lot has its own challenge—dodging potholes! After checking in, signing a waiver, and grabbing a wristband (your game pass and score tracker), you’re ready to play.

The Space

Though compact, Gamegrounds packs in the fun with glowing carnival vibes—red ropes, draped fabrics, and neon-lit game stations. A snack booth serves carnival classics like cotton candy, pretzels, and hot dogs, plus soda and alcoholic drinks.

The Games

Scan your wristband at each game station to start. Some games are cooperative, others competitive—perfect for a group of four, although you can pack in as many as six. Expect upgraded classics like whack-a-mole and shooters, plus unique artist-created experiences. Each station has cupholders, but minimal space for bags—so travel light! Check the leaderboard; top scores earn prizes! The more top scores you rack up, the bigger the prizes get.

Worth It?

At $25 for 75 minutes, you can easily hit every game once in 40 minutes—leaving time to replay favorites (giant Tetris and sushi puck throwing were our top picks!) or grab some snacks and relax with friends. We’re already planning a return visit with friends to chase high scores and try more carnival snacks!

Go soon—this pop-up won’t last forever! 🎪✨
