HangOverEasy

This week was my birthday, and Josh kicked off the day with nostalgia and eggs. We started the day at HangOver Easy on Ohio State’s campus to begin the celebrations! Back when I was at OSU, HangOver Easy was the go-to spot for a hearty breakfast after a night of cheering on our Buckeyes. Originally known as Nick’s Diner in 2002, it was reimagined as Hangover Easy in 2007, quickly becoming a favorite. They now have five locations, with three close to universities, catering perfectly to their audience.

The original location on South High had a simple and modern design with a hint of quirkiness. The atmosphere perfectly complemented the menu, which featured dishes with humorous names and a wide selection, including unique breakfast items. In addition to the standard egg and pancake dishes, they offer creative breakfast options to tantalize your taste buds. They even have a monthly special pancake flavor, and in June it was bursting with fruity pebbles, looking like something out of a dream. Although I was tempted to try it, I was worried it might be too sweet for the first thing I ate all day.

HangOver Easy believes in the philosophy that breakfast can cure it all, be it a hangover or the struggle to get out of bed. Their HOE-branded merchandise is a clever play on words, combining brilliance, humor, and a hint of inappropriateness – a perfect combination.

We tried chicken and waffles, with a spicy twist of being marinated in hot sauce at Hangover. Josh loved them, but I found them a bit too spicy for my taste. I also tried the chilaquiles, but we both felt they didn’t meet our expectations.

On the bright side, the drinks were amazing. Josh enjoyed the Sunshine on my *** bourbon drink, and I loved the mock Bloody Mary from their expansive mocktail selection. If you plan to visit their location in Old Towne East or by OSU, be sure to join their waitlist from their website or the QR code when you arrive. They will text you when your table is ready.

I look forward to going back for their unique pancakes and French toast. We weren’t overly impressed with their regular breakfast food, but we still liked it enough to want to try other dishes. Let us know what you think and what you try. The oatmeal pie pancakes are calling my name!
