Makers Social: Where Crafting & Cocktails Meet

Ever wanted to dive into a creative project without the hassle of gathering supplies? What if you could do it while sipping a handcrafted cocktail or a rare bourbon, all while snacking on popcorn or a charcuterie board? Look no further! Maker’s Social in Franklinton combines creativity, craft cocktails, and a vibrant social atmosphere for a one-of-a-kind experience—perfect for date nights, girls’ nights out, or even a family-friendly outing.

How It Works

First, you’ll put on an apron and browse not one but two menus—one for food and drinks, and another showcasing a variety of craft projects. Unlike some DIY studios where you have to pick in advance, here, your decision happens on the spot.

Lining the front wall are completed craft samples, giving you an up-close look at your options. Choices range from metal jewelry and leather flask covers to home décor and even dog accessories. As devoted pet parents, we couldn’t resist making something for our pup, Emmy—a custom leather collar and a wooden stand for her bowls.

Once you’ve chosen your craft, a staff member will bring over a tray with supplies and a step-by-step guide (with pictures!) to walk you through the process. Additional tools and materials are readily available on a self-service wall, making it easy to grab what you need as you go. The staff is incredibly helpful, frequently stopping by to offer guidance—so even if you’re a DIY newbie, you’ll feel totally at ease. While it’s an awesome date night spot, kids are welcome too!

Drinks, Snacks & Happy Hour Perks

If unlimited self-serve popcorn isn’t enough to satisfy your cravings, Maker’s Social also offers a full drink menu featuring craft cocktails, mocktails, and a curated bourbon selection, including rare finds. We both opted for slightly sour cocktails, and they hit just right in the weirdest way possible.

Feeling snacky? You can build your own charcuterie board from an assortment of prepackaged treats—including nostalgic favorites like Gushers and Goldfish.

(You’re also welcome to bring your own snacks!)

But the real treat? Happy Hour. Every weekday from 4-6 PM, you’ll score $1 off cocktails AND $10 off your craft project! Now that’s a deal worth planning for.

Cost & Time Commitment

Expect to spend 2-4 hours on your project, depending on its complexity and how much time you spend socializing. We tackled two of the longer projects and were there for about three hours.

Pricing varies by craft, but here’s what we spent during happy hour:

Leather dog collar – $39 Wooden pet dining table – $51 Parking – $7 (since nearby garages and street parking are all pay-to-park)

Final Verdict: Is It Worth It?

Absolutely. For under $120, we had an entire interactive date night, complete with cocktails, free popcorn, and two handcrafted keepsakes. Whether you’re looking for a fun girls’ night, a creative solo outing, or a date with a unique twist, Maker’s Social is 100% worth checking out. We can’t wait to go back—and next time, we’re bringing friends!
