When we spend time with friends or family, we love to have a good game night. We enjoy a variety of games including cornhole, board games, and drinking games. Games are a great way to get to know others, whether we’re working together or competing against each other. We’ve recently discovered Tabletop Game Cafe in Columbus and we can’t wait to share our experience with you.
Tabletop Game Cafe is like a library but for board and card games. The walls are lined with games and there are tables of varying sizes filling the long room. To access the games, there’s a $5 “library fee” that goes toward game upkeep and damages. If you order food or drinks from the cafe, your library fee decreases by one dollar per item.
The cafe offers a variety of coffee options, but our favorite is the selection of seasonal beers, ciders, and meads. We’re particularly drawn to the mead cocktails they create. While we don’t often eat the sandwiches, the appetizers always make for a great light snack.
After ordering, we took our time perusing the game selection. The games are labeled by difficulty and number of players, making it easy to find something new. We found a “new to us” two-player game, Odin’s Ravens, and settled in. This is what we love about the cafe – being able to try out games before committing to buying them! We’ve been here several times, so we definitely recommend it. There are other game cafes in the area and we’ll have to try them out, but Tabletop Game Cafe has really captured our attention.
If you decide to visit, reservations are recommended, although not required. All ages are welcome, and the tables only seat up to seven people for the time being.
If you visit and LOVE it, they offer memberships and you can even reserve a weekly table in addition to other perks. They also have a children’s summer day camp for a while.
