This week, instead of focusing on food, we decided to try something new and headed to ZipZone, an adventure park with zip lines and obstacle courses in Westerville, just off route 23. Rather than going for the two-hour zip line tour, we went for the adventure course to challenge ourselves.
The adventure course consists of various obstacle courses set up in the air! We used a two-clip system and did not have the assistance of a guide. After a brief introduction to the system, we were let loose on the course! The courses vary in difficulty and are color-labeled for different age groups. While the adventure course is suitable for kids of all ages, we found that the most challenging route tested our balance and strength the most.
We started with a moderately challenging course, navigating bridges made of logs on suspension cables and solving problems to traverse the ropes. There were even a few zip lines on the adventure courses! After completing the intermediate courses, we decided to tackle the most difficult course. Hannah, leading the way, immediately felt the difference in difficulty. Unlike the other courses, which provide lots of support and handholds, the black course relies heavily on balance and arm strength. Hannah managed to complete it, but she thinks someone should have stopped her before she attempted it. The course required all her remaining physical and mental strength. While I fared a little better, it’s safe to say that the black course is not for beginners. Hannah wanted to emphasize how challenging the black course is – there was a reason we were the only ones on it that day, and we both ended up with multiple cuts and bruises.
Despite feeling exhausted for the next few hours, it was a fantastic experience. We were tired but got a great workout by doing something different from the usual. There were several kids there, and we can understand why – it’s a fantastic way to release all their energy while doing something unique! Be sure to book your spot in advance and enjoy feeling like a kid again as you balance in the treetops!
